Experience
Born from a creative collaboration between the team at Alila Villas Uluwatu and acclaimed poet Lang Leav, this experience invites guests to explore harmony through the lens of poetry and Balinese ritual.
Inspired by Tri Hita Karana, the Balinese belief in harmony between the divine, nature, and humankind, the journey unfolds with a traditional Melukat purification ceremony at Suranadhi Temple. Flowing spring water and sacred chants offer space to let go—an act of cleansing both literal and symbolic.
Afterward, guests are welcomed into a tranquil organic garden, where a simple breakfast is served beneath the trees. In this setting of calm and connection, you’ll be invited to compose a poem—guided by prompts drawn from the day’s experience.
After time spent in reflection and creativity, the experience concludes with a relaxed coastal lunch at Alila’s vibrant sister property, Andaz Bali.
Itinerary
Morning Ritual and Renewal
Your Villa Host will arrive to help you dress in traditional Balinese attire, including a sarong and sash, before accompanying you to the lobby.
Spiritual Cleansing at Suranadhi Temple
Travel to Suranadhi Temple for a traditional Melukat purification ceremony. Led by a local priest, this sacred ritual of flowing water and prayer invites you to release, rebalance, and begin anew.
Organic Garden Gathering
Following the ceremony, continue to a tranquil organic garden, where a light Balinese breakfast awaits beneath the trees. Here, take time to reflect on the morning’s journey in peaceful seclusion.
Poetry in the Garden
Guided by prompts inspired by the experience, you’ll compose your own poem in a notebook made from recycled paper by the Alila Sustainability Lab.
Coastal Lunch at Andaz Bali
Conclude your journey with a relaxed seaside lunch at Fisherman’s Club, the vibrant beachfront eatery at Alila’s sister property, Andaz Bali.
